A Christmas Surprise Full of Heart

I was absolutely delighted to be invited by a lovely mum who had a very special plan in mind — a surprise photoshoot as a Christmas gift for her husband, celebrating their daughters and their much-loved animals. 

The shoot included one beautiful pony and two dogs, each with their own unique personalities, and it was so important to capture the genuine bonds between them and the girls. I visited the yard where the pony is kept, which instantly felt calm, personal, and full of love. I photographed the eldest daughter with her pony, who was a fairly new addition to the family. They were still very much in that early stage of getting to know one another — building trust, confidence, and connection. 

Next, it was time for the younger sister, along with her puppy and the puppy’s older brother. There was such a wonderful mix of playfulness and tenderness — muddy paws, big cuddles, and lots of laughter. Seeing her confidence with both dogs, and the clear bond they already share, was a joy to document.

We finished by bringing all four together, creating images full of personality, connection, and family spirit — the kind of photographs that tell a story.

Keeping these images secret until after Christmas was no easy task, but it was so worth it. I’m thrilled to say that Dad absolutely loved them, and now that the surprise has been revealed, I’m finally able to share this beautiful session.
