My morning with James and his three stunning brindle Staffordshire Terriers, Maisie, Gino, and Gina , was absolutely one of my favs!
We headed to the Grow Walkies dog park in Hertford, Hertfordshire, a brilliant, fully enclosed space that gives dogs the freedom to truly be themselves without a lead in sight. For James and his trio, this was one of their first times experiencing such an expanse of safe, open space together, and honestly? They made every single second count.
A Challenge Worth Every Shot
If you’ve ever tried to photograph three energetic Staffies who are absolutely buzzing with the excitement of wide open space… you’ll know. These three were a blur of brindle fur, wagging tails, and pure, unfiltered joy. Getting all three to pause, even for a heartbeat, was a delightful challenge. But that’s exactly what lifestyle dog photography is all about. It’s not about perfect poses. It’s about capturing the real, the chaos, the connection, the candid moments that make you smile every time you look back at them.
The sunshine helped, flooding the park with that beautiful golden light that Hertfordshire does so well on a good day. Between the zoomies and the sniffs and the general mayhem, we did manage to steal some truly gorgeous frames, and I cannot wait for James to see them.
More Than Just a Dog Shoot
What makes this session even more special is the story behind these three. Maisie, Gino, and Gina were born on the anniversary of James’s dear mum, who passed away ten years ago. These puppies aren’t just pets, they are something deeply meaningful. A connection. A comfort. A little piece of joy tied to a day that could so easily feel heavy.
That’s the kind of thing that reminds me why I do this work. Photographs hold stories. And these images of James with his three beautiful dogs will carry a meaning that goes far beyond a lovely day out in the sunshine.

James — it was an absolute pleasure. Maisie, Gino, and Gina are three of the most characterful, loving dogs I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, and watching you with them told its own story without a single word needed.
Round two can’t come soon enough. Hopefully with slightly less zoomies… but honestly, probably not, and that’s perfectly fine by me. 🐾
